Description ~ Get Your Fair Isle On!

Curious about stranded colorwork techniques? Intimidated by multiple strands of yarn in multiple colors? Not sure how gauge works or how to trap those floats? This is the workshop for you! We’ll cover basic Fair Isle knitting techniques for English, Continental and Combination knitters, tackle common issues, proper technique, touch on color theory and psychology, multiple ways to trap floats, Fair Isle history, Latvian Braids, and set good Fair Isle knitting habits. We will then focus on putting everything we learned into practice and knit the popular Polarized Hat! Open to beginners and people with previous Fair Isle knowledge, this class will tackle any fears and get you excited to cast on for your next stranded colorwork project!


Materials Needed ~ Get Your Fair Isle On!

• 250 yards each worsted weight yarn in 2 highly contrasting colors
• Size US 8 (5mm) 16” circular knitting needle
• Size US 8 (5mm) DPNs
• Stitch markers
• Tapestry needle
• Post-It notes


Homework ~ Get Your Fair Isle On!

Long tail cast on 88 sts with MC. Join into round, being careful not to twist. Place marker for beginning of round.
